AAK Annual Convention 2025
As cities around the world grow in complexity and scale, the call to shape urban environments that are inclusive, livable, climate-conscious, and future-ready has never been more urgent. In Kenya, where urban populations are expanding rapidly, the built environment sector plays a pivotal role in responding to housing needs, infrastructure development, climate adaptation, and inclusive design.
We will focus our discussion on the following sub-themes:
- From plans to Reality: Delivering effective urban systems through Data, Policy and Finance. It explores the structural, policy, and financial levers required to translate urban development plans into implementable and impactful outcomes.
- Designing Space for Life: Integrating homes, workplaces, public spaces and communities for safe, inclusive and high-quality living. Focuses on human-centered design approaches that create safe, inclusive, and vibrant urban environments where people can live, work, & thrive.
- Building Climate-Resilient Cities: Advancing sustainable transformation and green growth. Centers on green infrastructure, disaster resilience, and climate adaptation as essential components of future-proof cities.
- Driving Urban Innovation: Harnessing cross-disciplinary collaboration for next generation cities. Encourages collaboration across built environment disciplines to unlock smart, forward-looking, and context-sensitive urban innovations.
