Engineers Chapter

There are four branches of the Engineering disciple that mainly deal in the provision of the built environment:

  • Civil Engineers– deals with infrastructure, the provision of roads, water supply, sewerage and surface drainage.
  • Structural Engineers– deals with structural design of buildings and other structures so that they are strong enough to support the loads applied on them
  • Electrical Engineers– deals with the generation and distribution of electricity and the design of related facilities such as generators, transformers etc
  • Mechanical Engineers– deals with the provision of plumbing and drainage systems, firefighting, ventilation and air conditioning.

The Engineer’s Chapter has been in existence since the Establishment of AAK in 1967. Many prominent engineers have been members of AAK. Our members have been active in most activities undertaken by the Association. The Engineers’ chapter has been vibrant and holds many events that are enlightening, offer networking opportunities and earn PDU’s from Engineers Board of Kenya. We have been well represented in the council and on various committees including the restructuring process of the Association.

Why we do it better?

The services provided in these branches of engineering include design work, preparation of drawings, specification and tender documents, supervision of installation, testing and commissioning.

The role of engineers is to ensure that the intended products whether housing or infrastructure are realized most economically and are safe for use.

The use of Engineers in the design and construction supervision of buildings mitigates the risks of collapse of buildings, fire, safety, flooding and overspending in construction.

It is a legal requirement to engage engineers while developing.
