AAK Annual Convention 2024/HFHK National Housing Forum

The Architectural Association of Kenya, in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Kenya, is pleased to announce the AAK Annual Convention + HFHK National Housing Forum, a premier Continuous Professional Development Event. This year’s theme is Social Habitat for the Region.

We will focus our discussion on the following sub-themes:

1. Policy Frameworks and Regulation Reforms: Analyzing existing housing policies and regulations in Kenya. Discussing the need for policy reforms to better address the housing crisis. Exploring ways to streamline and improve regulatory processes for housing development.
2. Collaborative Partnerships: Building effective partnerships between public and private entities: professionals, government agencies, NGOs, and local stakeholders Leveraging interdisciplinary collaboration for holistic and sustainable development
3. Community Engagement and Participation: Methods for involving local communities in the design and planning process Empowering marginalized groups and ensuring inclusivity in decision-making
4. Innovative Financing Models: for making social housing more affordable Ensuring accessibility for all, including special needs and discussing the role of financial institutions, impact investors, and crowdfunding in housing development while analyzing successful case studies of innovative financing models
5. Technological and Innovative Solutions: Discussing the role of technology in addressing housing challenges. Showcasing innovative construction methods, materials, and design technologies. Exploring the use of data and analytics for better urban planning.
6. Climate Resilient Housing: Strategies for reducing environmental impact in social housing projects Integration of green building principles and renewable energy solutions
7. Land Use, Urban Planning, and Secure Land Tenure: Analyzing land use patterns and their impact on housing development
